Head Coach
Coach Corey Graham, a Little Rock, Arkansas native, brings over 13 years of experience in education and coaching to Stony Point High School. A proud graduate of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR), Coach Graham has built a reputation for developing players, building culture, and leading competitive programs across Texas.
Before arriving at Stony Point, Coach Graham served as the First Assistant at Cy Creek High School (2017–2021), where he helped guide the program to two district championships, multiple bi-district titles, and area finalist appearances. Prior to that, he coached at W.T. White High School in Dallas (2015–2017), helping lead the team to the state playoffs in 2015. Most recently, he contributed to playoff success at Klein Cain High School (2021–2024), where the program reached the postseason in 2024.
Throughout his career, Coach Graham has helped 12 players advance to Division I basketball, including notable names such as Chas Kelly (Georgia Tech), DJ Richards (McNeese State), and Nate Martin (Marshall University).
Known for his energy, passion, and commitment to developing both players and people, Coach Graham leads with the belief that success starts with culture, consistency, and character.
JV Coach
Coach Jeffery Bates, a native of Houston, Texas, joins Stony Point High School with 8 years of experience teaching in public schools and 11 years of experience coaching basketball. Coach Bates comes from Hutto ISD, where he served as the Head Coach for the Junior Varsity team (2022-2023) at Hutto High School and Head Coach for the Freshman basketball team (2023-2025) at the Hutto Ninth Grade Center. Prior to teaching and coaching at Hutto ISD, he coached multiple sports, including boys' basketball at Walsh Middle School in Round Rock ISD from 2017-2022. His coaching career began at Brentwood Christian School in 2015.
Coach Bates earned his Master's in Sports Administration from Concordia University in 2021. His Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science is from Southwest Texas State University. He is a faithful husband to Janel Bates, and a father of two students in Round Rock schools, Ambergray (15) and Croix (12).
His passion for serving the students at Stony Point High School is geared towards teaching them how to position themselves for success both on and off the court. Through demonstrative leadership and high levels of commitment, Coach Bates aims to assist students in personal growth and player development.
Freshman Coach
Marcus Saunders, a native of Killeen, Texas, has been a dedicated member of the Stony Point Learning Community for the past eight years. He previously served as the Campus Athletics Coordinator at Hopewell Middle School and currently serves as the lead freshman basketball coach and varsity assistant.
Saunders played collegiate basketball at The University of Texas Permian Basin, where he was a three-year starter and ranked among the top 15 shot blockers in the nation. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology with a minor in Art History and was recognized on the National Dean’s List for his academic excellence.
Following his collegiate career, Coach Saunders played professional basketball internationally in England, Spain, and China, as well as in the United States, with the NBA D-League and the ABA’s nationally ranked West Texas Whirlwinds. After completing his professional career, he spent seven years with the Boys & Girls Club of Central Texas before transitioning into education.
Coach Saunders started his teaching career in Bay City, Texas. During his tenure at Stony Point, Coach Saunders has played an integral role in developing some of the area’s top basketball talent. He has coached numerous standout student-athletes, including McDonald’s All-American finalist and Gatorade Player of the Year Josiah Moseley, as well as Uzziah Buntyn (University of South Dakota), Landon Short (Pittsburg State University), Junior Goodlet (Dallas Baptist University), and Tiki Morin (Huston-Tillotson University), among others.
Coach Saunders helped guide the program to the best record in school history at 38–2, earning a state runner-up finish, three consecutive varsity district championships, a regional championship, and back-to-back district titles at the freshman level.
He holds a Master of Education degree with an emphasis in Sports Administration from Concordia University and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Organizational Leadership from Concordia University Chicago.
Coach Saunders brings to the program a wealth of experience, leadership, and commitment to player development, teamwork, and academic excellence. He is the proud father of Marcus Jr. (10) and Meilani (9).
Freshman Coach
Coach John Hill is a veteran educator and coach with more than 20 years of experience in teaching and athletics. He currently serves as a member of the Stony Point High School basketball coaching staff, where his leadership and experience have played an integral role in the program’s success.
Coach Hill helped guide the Tigers to the best record in school history at 38–2, culminating in a state runner-up finish. In addition to basketball, he has coached football and track & field, earning a state championship in football at Mesquite High School.
A former collegiate athlete, Coach Hill played baseball at Huston-Tillotson University, where he developed the foundational principles of teamwork, dedication, and discipline that continue to shape his coaching philosophy today.
Known for his steady leadership, mentorship, and commitment to student growth, Coach Hill exemplifies excellence both on and off the court. He is a loving husband and father, devoted to his family and to the continued success of the Stony Point athletic program.
